Stefran Broekman

Stefran Broekman is the youngest member of the Catchco team, adding to the already potent combination of wildlife expertise. He started working on a game reserve over weekends and school holidays from the age of 16. He started learning about game and veld management and showed a special interest in large animals and trees. After school he studied and received a National Diploma in Nature Conservation and also started a B-Tech degree in Nature Conservation and a National Diploma in Animal health.

Stefran qualified as Professional Hunter at the age of 20 years and hunted both plains and dangerous game. After finishing his Diploma in Nature Conservation he worked in Kruger National park with the game capture team. His love for hunting changed into a passion for game capture. During his time in Kruger National Park he gained experience in elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo capture. He assisted in the Buffalo TB project at Satara where he gained knowledge on buffalo research and a lot of bush skills.

In 2003 he got appointed as the Reserve manager at a private game reserve. He managed the game capture, hunting and wildlife management of the reserve, as well as tourist activities like game drives, game walks, horseback safaris, etc. Stefran also got involved in Sable, buffalo and roan breeding projects on the farm. During this time Stefran did a course in Chemical immobilization of animals, and gained more experience in the capture of rhino, buffalo, giraffe, roan and sable.

Stefran has worked and traveled all over Africa. Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia are well known territory for Stefran since he toured these areas for hunting, holiday and wildlife management reasons. He is a live roadmap for these countries.

Stefran moved to a quarantine facility where wildlife was captured and exported abroad. He managed lion, cheetah and wild dog breeding, as well as the capture of the different species.

In 2008 Stefran merged into the Catchco team, where he is at the head of the student experience.

Therefore providing up close and personal encounters with all of which contributes to the successful management and conservation of a unique South African diversity and heritage
